In March 2021, the MCFHF Board proudly added a new director to its board – Catey Trenner from Del Rey Oaks. Catey is no stranger to the Monterey County Fair, or other local fairs as she was born and raised in Corral de Tierra and the Salinas Valley, where she and her family have been involved in 4-H since as far back as she can remember. As a 4-H member of the Corral de Tierra 4-H Club, Catey showed livestock at both the Salinas Valley and Monterey County fairs.
Catey attended Notre Dame High School and Hartnell College, where she was introduced to the fire service. She recently retired from a very dedicated and rewarding career with CAL FIRE. Her husband John is also active at the Monterey County Fair, as he oversees the onsite emergency services personnel. Their two children, Jessica and Wes followed their mother’s lead and were active livestock exhibitors at the fair through their 4-H involvement for some years and as volunteers at the fairgrounds.
When asked about serving on the MCFHF Board, Catey replied, “The opportunity to serve on the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation Board is near and dear to my heart. This Fair has always been a part of my life and I look forward to serving on the Heritage Board and supporting not only the fair but all the 4-H and FFA kids they support.”
