Young Readers From First to Sixth Grades Can Win Tickets to the 2021 Monterey County Fair Just By Reading!

MONTEREY, CA. (July 26, 2021) — If your child likes to read, the 2021 Monterey County Fair is offering a special reward to Monterey County kids who read extra books during the months of July and August.

The fair’s “Reading & Riding” program is a great opportunity to get that required summer reading done and earn a reward at the same time! Students in 1st and 2nd grades can read picture books, but all other grades must read chapter books.

To enter, children must read the required number of books: 1st & 2nd graders must read three books; 3rd & 4th graders, four books; and 5th & 6th graders, five books.

Then parents fill out an entry form with title and author of the books, name, grade, home and email address, and certify that their child read their books between June 1 and Aug. 20, 2021.

Entry forms must be returned to the fair by Aug. 20, and the fair will send a free admission ticket to be used at the fair from noon to 10 p.m. Monday. Sept. 6. Participants can pick up their ribbon at the Home Arts Building that day.

The program is sponsored by Carousel Candies and Farmers Insurance.

The 2021 Monterey County Fair will be held Sept. 3-6, at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center, 2004 Fairground Road, Monterey. This year’s theme is “Fair Fun in 2021!” Tickets to the fair are on sale at
